Hello, everybody. Welcome to the Real Scary Nerds Podcast, Episode 1. I am your host, Michael. Thank you all for stopping by and checking this out. There's not going to be anything too in-depth with this podcast or this episode just yet. Being it is only episode one, I'm just going to give a brief summary and breakdown of what to expect with the podcast and maybe give you a little backstory on myself because the podcast is essentially about people's journeys into their hobbies or their niches of what they love and enjoy. I want to see what people's journey is into their hobbies and why they enjoy the things that they do and maybe how it's affected them and what it's done for their life. It's something that I've always loved to do. It's just talk to people and have bonds with others and connecting with others about similar interests, or maybe even something that I don't even know about that people can inform me about. I just want to know what makes people tick and what makes people keep going on with their life. And maybe this can be a sort of mental health podcast, but I don't want it to be super mental health podcasts because I'm not a licensed therapist. But if it does help you in a way or inspire you in a way, I'm really glad that this could be an outlet for somebody because that is my biggest. Um this is my biggest thing about the podcast is to share stories with others and get to know people and inspire people along the way, get them to be invested into this podcast, or get them to like new movies, new books, get them in the reading, get them in the film, get them into horror. I just want to inspire people and have a deep and meaningful conversations with anyone on this podcast. I just want to know what the real scary nerds of the world journey is. If I said that correctly. But it started for me back in high school when I took a film class and I watched Psycho for the very first time. That was my introduction into film, but not necessarily what got me into watching movies, but it got me into watching film and knowing that I really want to do this, or I really love this format, I really love this media. Since that day, I invested into watching so many movies, learning about directors and filmmaking, and I still have a lot to learn. I don't know everything, but I started on this journey because I just watched Psycho, and that's it. And then Alfred Hitchcock became my favorite director. And that's what I want to know what your journey is. I want to know what people's journey is in your niche or hobby. Again, I can say another one. I started watching horror many, many years ago, which to some people might not be that long, but to me it is. It's it was it's been about 15 or so years. I just remember, I think it was 2009, and I saw Saul and Jeepers Creepers and Candyman kind of back to back in my grandmother's house, and I was just hooked. Even though she told me to stop watching the movies, I just could not stop watching. It was on the CW and it was, I think, an afternoon and on a Saturday in 2009, and I was just hooked at the first watch. I could not stop watching them, and ever since I've been addicted to horror, and the way movies and books have impacted my life, or should I say horror has impacted my life, is just giving me a reason to live with meaningful stories. I love the outlet that books and movies give me by introducing me to worlds that I could never have experienced or that I could ever really conjure up myself. Books, movies, TV shows, or other pop culture forms really inspire me because they say the things that I can't myself. And that's why I want to make this podcast, just so I can have these conversations and be able to have the outlet of getting to talk with others to, I guess, kind of talk about myself in the same aspect of what I'm trying to get others to talk with me about. I just want to know what other people are out there that have the same desire to want to talk and come out here and have deep and meaningful conversations about their journey into their hobbies. And that's what the Real Scary Nerds podcast is about. That might be very long-winded, and I kind of rambled a little bit, so I'm sorry. Very new to this, very new to this, but please forgive me and I hope that you all will go with me on this journey with the real scary nerds podcast. I am very excited. I am looking for my first guest for the next episode. It might be a few episodes from now until I get a guest on here. But I am currently looking. So if you're hearing this podcast, please reach out to me on Instagram at Sonofaven. Let's make something happen. Or you can reach out to me on the Real Scar's podcast Instagram. Everything will be in the link in the description. But I am really excited about this. I'm really excited to talk with everyone and see if this podcast takes off and see if this inspires you and if you all enjoyed this. Also, before I leave, because I'm not gonna make this really long for everyone, go watch Obsession. Curry Barker is one of the greatest minds currently in the horror scene. I was very skeptical, whoa, skeptical, of what he might do with the Texas Chancel Massacre franchise because that is my favorite franchise of all time. But after watching Obsession and its brilliance, it has erased all doubt in my mind. So please go watch Obsession if you can while it is still in theaters. It is hands down, one of the scariest movies I've ever seen, and one of the best horror movies I have ever seen. Please go watch it, and thank you for checking out the very first episode of the Real Scary Nerds podcast. I will be back next week, hopefully, with a guest for episode two. But until next time, thank you guys, and please go check out my Instagram as well.
